2011年度英国学院奖BAFTA电视部分颁奖礼与当地时间5月22日晚揭晓，《神探夏洛克》(Sherlock)不负众望，获得了最佳剧情系列剧奖。其卡司之一，饰演华生医生的马丁·弗瑞曼则获得了最佳男配角奖。这部由柯南·道尔经久不衰的侦探小说改编，其背景设定在21世纪伦敦的剧集在全世界都创造了轰动效应。第2季的《神探夏洛克》正在卡迪夫拍摄中。
主创之一史蒂文·莫法特将奖项归功于他的妻子，因为是她使得自己和联合主创马克·加蒂斯将一直都很喜欢的维多利亚时期侦探的故事变成了现实：“两年半的时间，我们只是在空谈，而我不经意地跟我的妻子Sue提到了它，她就立刻抓住了这个点子。”
马丁·弗瑞曼击败了《唐顿庄园》、《超能少年》以及《英伦86》的演员们获得了BAFTA的肯定。他说：“我知道现在很流行说你对得奖什么的毫不在意，但是我却对我自己特自豪。”不过本尼迪克特·康伯巴奇本来很有希望获得的最佳男主角却被《艾瑞克和厄尼》男星丹尼尔·瑞格比(Daniel Rigby)。爆冷获得：“我简直是目瞪口呆，这真是令人难以置信。”
女演员方面，薇琪·麦克卢尔(Vicky McClure)凭借在《英伦86》中的表现获得最佳女主角。另外一个令人惊讶的奖项是最佳喜剧，《哈里和保罗》击败了《伴我双飞》等剧集获得该项殊荣。着实令人可惜的是《唐顿庄园》，这部优秀的剧集在BAFTA上竟然颗粒无收，YouTube 网络观众奖被《真人秀：埃塞克斯是唯一的生活方式》获得。在国际剧集中，AMC今年的新剧竟然打败《海滨帝国》、《欢乐合唱团》和《广告狂人》获得奖项，着实令人惊讶。
